Diane Zigo, CSJ, Ph.D. is a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Albany NY Province. She is currently an Associate Professor of Literacy Education and serves as the Associate Chair of the Education Department at Le Moyne College, Syracuse, NY. She has been an educator for over 30 years, first in middle and secondary schools in Upstate NY, and then as a teacher educator in higher education for the past 13 years. In addition to her professional teaching assignments, she has worked in a variety of other educational programs in Appalachia; Nogales, AZ; urban Albany; and the Albany County Jail and Penitentiary. Her primary ministry has been English and literacy education, with a particular focus on accessible education for students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and diverse cultural experiences. She is currently chair of the Hope for Ariang Board’s Education Subcommittee, charged with working towards sustainability of Ariang Primary School and assisting in the development of curricular and instructional tools. In addition to service on the Hope for Ariang Board, Diane is a member of the Board of Trustees of The College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY, where she serves on the Educational Programs and the Mission and Values committees.
